A Pilot Randomized Trial of Asynchronous and Synchronous Telepsychiatry in Skilled Nursing Facilities

More than 10 million Americans with serious mental illnesses require skilled nursing facility (SNF) level of care to manage activities of daily living and functional impairments. The critical shortages of inpatient psychiatric beds have added to “trans-institutionalization” of people with serious mental illnesses from psychiatric institutions to SNFs.
